With this partnership, DPC doctors using Atlas.md can now guide their patients to more affordable hospital options, adding a critical layer of support that extends care beyond the clinic and treats the patient as a whole.

But the moment a patient ends up in the hospital, they are often left to navigate a maze of billing codes, inflated charges, and confusing paperwork — all outside their doctor’s control. The Goodbill integration changes that.
Through the integration, DPC doctors can now guide patients — whether for an emergency or planned surgery — to nearby hospitals that offer 501(r) financial assistance discounts of up to 100% off. These discounts are legally required at nonprofit hospitals, but many patients don’t realize they may qualify. With just a few details like the patient’s household size and income, doctors can quickly generate a list of nearby hospitals offering potential savings.

Goodbill then takes it from there: not only helping the patient apply for the 501(r) discount, but also reviewing their charges for coding errors or medically unnecessary care, and negotiating with the hospital on behalf of the patient. Goodbill typically saves patients 20-30% off their hospital bill — amounting to hundreds or even thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket costs.
